The Beatles - Ticket To Ride (Top of the Pops, 1965)

My favourite video for this song is that one taken from “Help!”, but God, I love this version as well. It’s not just a Beatles video for television (wich would be great by itself), but a epic mockery of the playback on TV.

Emphasis on:

  • Ringo’s standing, instead of sitting (while others are sitting instead of standing) — it’s obvious, I know, but deserves to be mentioned;
  • John’s making faces all the time;
  • The way Ringo plays drums at one point of the video (and Paul laughs of this).
  • That close up on George’s face.
